Perfect in 14 minutes. Any thickness. Every time. The most delicious steaks you can't mess up.
Thin cut, thick cut, that slab your brother hauls out to prove a point. Every SunderSteak comes off the fire perfectly done in exactly 14 minutes. One rule out here: the lid stays shut.
No thermometer. No hovering. No mercy for peekers.
(Don't. It's fourteen minutes. You've waited longer for worse.)
Grill night, minus the fussin'
No thermometer, no flip schedule, no standing guard over the fire like it owes you money. A SunderSteak sorts out its own doneness, provided nobody looks at it while it works.
Throw 'er on
Straight from the freezer, no thawing. Charcoal, propane, campfire coals, doesn't matter. Rain, wind, February. It's never once cared.
Shut the lid & walk away
Split some wood. Check on the horses, or the kids, whichever's louder. The steak handles the steak part. Fourteen minutes. Hands off, eyes off.
Open once, eat well
Lift the lid at 14:00 and it's perfect. Rest it 4 minutes, slice against the grain, accept the praise like you expected it. Open at minute 9 "just to check" and see our FAQ. And our condolences.
Cooking Facts
Other steaks make you do arithmetic. Thickness, grate temp, carryover heat, the chart somebody's uncle laminated. A SunderSteak ships with one number and it's already printed on the label.
How's it work? Fair question. Our people describe the process as "settled long before it leaves the ranch" and have asked, politely, that it stay at that.
One number. Fourteen. That's the whole recipe.

Pick your cut. They all take 14.
Thickness changes the portion, not the timer. That's not a misprint. That's the product.

"Eleven years of ruining steaks. My wife kept photos. Saturday I cooked one from the garage, on the phone the whole time, and it beat the restaurant we got engaged at."
"Figured it for a gimmick. It's not a gimmick, it's a timer. Fed twelve people and sat down the whole while, at my own party, like some kind of guest."
"Opened the lid at minute nine to show my brother-in-law. That one's on me. They warn you on the box, the bag, and a little card inside the bag."
It's mostly about the lid
Sunder · runs the ranch · wrote the one rule
What happens if I open the lid early?
The steak makes up its mind right there, and it won't be perfect, because you didn't give it the full fourteen. Usually lands somewhere around grey. Closing the lid again won't fix it. We've watched people try. We've held their tongs.
Can I use a meat thermometer?
A thermometer is peeking with extra steps. Instant-read, leave-in, the fancy wireless one from Father's Day, all peeking. If you need a number mid-cook, the number is fourteen and you've had it since the store.
Does it work over a campfire?
Anything with a lid that shuts. Kettle grills, smokers, dutch ovens over coals, the oven back home. One fella used a toaster oven with the light off and reported "the best steak of my life" and "a smoke detector situation." Keep the light off. The light is a peek.
Frozen or thawed?
Either. It's never asked. Fourteen minutes.
A 101-pound steak in 14 minutes? Pull the other one.
Yes. Come over.
What if I peek and nobody sees me?
The steak sees you.
Alright, how does it actually work?
Every SunderSteak is prepared at the ranch so its doneness is fully settled before it ships. All it needs from you is fourteen closed-lid minutes to get there. Past that, our lawyers cleared exactly one sentence: "It's a really good steak."
